What are you missing to get closer to your goal?
I could not entrust to anyone what I myself did not understand. There was nothing to order. Not only did I not know how, but I didn't even know what. Right now I don’t even know how to convey this to Coach!
The one who will be near
I didn't need someone who would ask me what to do and who would expect a task from me. And when he sees that I am in a bad mood, he himself will become discouraged.
And I don’t need someone who knows how to do well what I myself do well.
I needed someone who would stand next to me and say: I see you have a drawdown with the operating system / clients / marketing (underline as necessary), let's figure it out. And then, turning up his sleeves, he will show the essence with real examples from experience. The one who will light where it's dark and find the switch in a dark room! And at some point, it will once again remind you why we started all this.
At times like this, I think it must be hard to be a coach and listen to it for hours.
It really became easier for me when I spoke out - my emotions faded a little, I pulled myself together and began to do what was required.
Until the next failed attempt. And then start all over again.
The ones that have tried everything
And I was not the only one, we just all voiced our “what is missing” in different ways.
At the weekly meetings of the "those who have tried everything" club.
-We need to learn from a person who is more experienced than us, and has already passed this way. my friend said, acknowledging the same problem.
- And we are ready to pay for it - nodded the second. - It is strange that the market has not yet offered a solution.
The market offered solutions, but they did not suit us.
Professionals I had to hire and empirically wait several months, trusting blindly.
Consultants They gave good advice, but not everyone took root in our realities.
coaches asked topical questions, structured emotions and opened up new directions. But no one knew for sure whether another dead end awaited there.
People who have walked our path were too busy to listen to them once a year at conferences, if you were lucky. But that wasn't enough.
After years of experimentation, each of us nevertheless got somewhere by touch and achieved something. Problems were forgotten, club meetings became less frequent.
Once I was offered to participate in a corporate mentoring program.
As intelligent people explained to me, mentors are chosen by those who have walked this path repeatedly and know exactly how and what to do. The mentor is given a goal that his “mentee” must achieve on his own (!) in a given period of time.
Like sports, I thought. “You don’t need to do their workouts for them, but at the same time, save them from having to invent exercises.
Although I still managed to pass some templates to them furtively, while no one sees.
Among them were those who needed to be asked questions that they overlooked.
Someone just missed knowledge or practical skills.
Someone needed a strategy and needed help prioritize.
Someone had to take responsibility and conquer authority. Spend conversation. Increase impact.
There were also much more experienced than me - they lacked energy and you just had to throw firewood. And in severe cases - make an explosion so that he can see another door. And the third. And the tenth.
Creative people needed motivation and inspiration.
And someone had enough confirm that it is doing everything right.
I didn't have a curriculum, I just tried to fill them in with what I felt they lacked. Create a complimentary team that I once lacked. Watch their breakthroughs in development. Keep watching now how far they have come many years later. It is not even important for me to know whether they attribute their success to our joint work. What matters to me is that they did it all themselves.
